Dry vs Dehydrated Skin

Did you know there’s a difference between dry and dehydrated skin? Your skin may feel tight and appear flaky or rough, with fine lines, and pronounced wrinkles, but the fact is – dry or dehydrated skin is not always visible. Even without visible dry patches, your skin could be dry or dehydrated underneath and in need of additional hydration. The main difference is: dry skin lacks oil and dehydrated skin lacks water which means any skin type can suddenly feel dehydrated.

Myth: only visibly dry or older skin needs hydration

Fact: All skin types (including oily and blemish prone skin) can benefit from hydration. In fact, oily skin produces more oil when it’s dehydrated to compensate for its hydration needs. Makes sense when you think about it. Dry skin is more sensitive, prone to lines and wrinkles, and less receptive to skincare products. That’s why if you place a drop of water on a dry sponge, it sits there (like a lump on a log) but if you use a wet sponge, it absorbs the drop. With age, skin is no longer capable of maintaining moisture as well as youthful skin and requires more maintenance. Well-hydrated skin retains a better barrier function and more elasticity to help achieve radiant, youthful-looking skin.

So what can you do about it?

HydrationSilk

This moisturizing, oil-free serum contains Hyaluronic Acid and 30% Glycerin to help defend against dry skin. Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid are humectants that attract and hold water but behave differently on the skin. Glycerin is a small molecule which is capable of absorbing at the skin’s surface. Hyaluronic Acid is a very large molecule that sits on top of the skin when applied, creating a hydrating cushion. Combining both Glycerin and Hyaluronic Acid provides a superior capacity for binding water and boosting hydration.

The result? Instantly moisturised skin that stays continuously hydrated all day long! Active Hydration Serum is clinically tested to raise skin’s hydration level by 200% after just one use and keeps it there for up to eight hours (based on an 8-day US clinical study). Say what??

💧100% of the people tested saw an increase in moisture retention level after 1 week
💧96% of people saw an improvement in moisture after 2 weeks.

How does it work?

The secret is our patent-pending, one-of-a-kind 3-Dimensional 3-Polymer (3D3P) Molecular Matrix. This concentrated solution of Hyaluronic Acid and Glycerin attracts and locks in moisture from the atmosphere to form a hydrating reservoir on the skin’s surface, allowing it to take in hydration as needed.

That means AHS is not like any other product. It self-adjusts to your skin’s needs and your environment to address hydration in a different way. Most moisturisers don’t add hydration to the skin. They just form a barrier that prevents moisture from escaping.

Radiant, younger looking skin is just a drop away. AHS is a layering super-serum that boosts the performance of your R+F Regimen giving you softer, smoother, more radiant-looking skin with even fewer fine lines and reduced pores. See it in action when Allure magazine Senior Beauty Editor Jessica Chia visited the Rodan + Fields lab.

Australian clients will be able to try this product on 21st February at a special introductory price. If you’re interested in adding this to your regimen, let me know. If you haven’t already, fill out the Solution Tool so you’ll know which regimen to add this to.
